My channel contains digitized film and video mostly from my father's archive from the 1960s - 1980s. I hope to add at least one clip per month.

I must admit whenever I visit NA and see passengers lining up in the Departures area, I can't help thinking to myself "God, I wish I was going with you.".😉
Al good but it was still cold in August.
Life must have been awful back then without the cultural enrichment we have now.
This is before hamas arrived in uk
Before the rest of the world arrived in the U.K.😞
Same shitty food you get today that's not changed 😢
I miss C&A and the Odeon cinema but most of all I miss the feeling of being in a city where I’m not constantly reminded that society is becoming less and less cohesive.
when we wasnt culturally enriched hey
If only we had a time machine to experience this again.
That’s trippy seeing it years before
Nostalgic for me.👍
Great video happy day’s 😊and then we were enriched by the mass importation of the 3rd world 😢
Fantastic memories, I was 20 in 1987 and loved life, loved going to town to see the match or to buy new clothes and for a night out with friends. my favourite bar was Cordwainers in Nelson Street. Christmas always seemed to have a very special atmosphere as well, the darkness coming early in early, the Christmas lights and displays, The noise of the Starlings starting to gather and Fenwicks window seemed more magical back then. Thanks for this video. Great memories of a great time, with great people, in our great City.
Were things really more violent or rougher back then?
Like all of these places, even your own home everything as been Made to look so white grey drab clinical cold without warm, invited homes of own personality,,, if you see some foreign videos you'll see a character of warmth ,
05:08 that yellow house on Hadrian's road at the bottom of Acanthus avenue, I lived in that house.
Seems like last Thursday!
Nostalgia is not what it used to be...
Society is miserable now i think somethings missing. But when you see people's faces in this they look lively happy and plodding on.
The looks of amazement in peoples faces on seeing a video camera 🎥. Now your never a few feet away from them. I'd live back i those times any day.
Looks better before enrichment. We were never asked
I like to believe people had a better quality to them back then. Not like now.😞
We've seen the metrocentre built and we'll see it knocked down the amount of empty shops and the land that was never used, now in 2024 its become a expensive white elephant.
That branch of Job Centre Plus in the MC was out of place and a waste of space.
Back in 1987 the metro centre was first 🥇 class I haven't been in 5 years friends who have visited have said half of the shops are shut ☹️🙁😲😳🤯
Wonderful video. Very special for us locals.
Most of the shops on there are now gone
My uncle worked for the cosntruction company that built the steel outta skeleton of the metrocenter, at the the time it was being built the main road hadnt been constructed yet and the company had to use the Dunston road to get to and from the A1. when the metrocenter opened my uncle told my mam to to use the Dunston road as it was now a backroad in and out bypassing the traffic conjestion on the main road to the A1, i still use this turn off to get there. Miss the water features and the hussle and bussle of the metrocenter, i still remember the christmas event they had and i think there was a superrmarket too, it was busy in 1987 unlike now with half closed shops.
Every city in the uk has been destroyed by immigration deliberately.
This was great thank you, my area so enjoyed it.
The year I was born
i miss this good times as a kid
You and me both.😞 Gone but never forgotten.👍
Adelle ruins this . She's a cockney and her music is from 20 years after 1985
I find Adele easy on the eye but don't go for her music.
I remember my Nana taking me to the civic centre where Princess Diana’s wedding dress was on display. I remember her saying “Eeee, looks like it needs a bloody good iron” 😆.
I was eight in 1985 and i would do anything to be able to drive one of those old cars but only for a half hour😊
Thanks for these vids mr Clark's
Love these vids to bits❤
I spent my youth in this area
Goosebumps for the past as I drive that rd everyday
The Polytechnics. Before it all became "Uni" where every one gets a prize, I mean a useless degree.
I was about 29 then now i am 65 where has time gone
I was there last year and i could not belive how much its gone down hill
Grew up here in the 80s , so many fond memories, My old school rutherford and I can see the music block and covered way. I used to deliver newspapers along lonnen way. Great times with lots of good people in the area who I miss seeing.
Everyone knows what’s went wrong with the UK
Way too many things wrong with the U.K. these days and I think it's great an increasing number of couples are deciding against having kids. Thank God I don't have any now.😉
I was 26 and working in Pearl Assurance House at the bottom of Northumberland street, before that I was at Northumbria Uni, now I'm 63 and working in St Mary's Place at the top of Northumberland street. In between I spent some time at Fenwicks. Funny for a mackem, but you all know why.
It's overrun with immigrants now like the rest of the UK.
Too true. You only have to watch this wonderful footage and witness the difference between the city centre of yesteryear to what it is now. A total travesty to be sure.😞
@@hallgos7319 I used to like going into the city centre. Now I only go when I have to. It’s too depressing.
@@seansmith445 Far too many of the wrong kind of 'people' polluting the city centre now for my liking.😞
Walk down the street now and count how many people are just randomly smiling.
Great to see vw nova
The 80’s & 90’s were the best days ever to live in Britain.
They were f'ckn awful. Mass unemployment. Violent crime through the roof. AIDS. Constant threat of nuclear war. Riots. Football hooligans. Child sex abuse widespread. NHS falling to bits. Poverty widespread. Poor schools.
THE GOOD OLD DAYS BEFORE DIVERSITY MOVED IN!
🎯
Yep, as a female felt much safer back then.😔
I was 17 then, used to love going from Morpeth into the city with my mates shopping for Kappa, Taccini, fake Lacoste, Mackenzie then out in the night starting with trebles for singles. as great crack - moved away years ago but my son will go to Uni there next year so hopefully relive my youth!
Takes mr bsck ,oh my beautiful yellow buses .we used to get on the12,32,2&4 .Back in the 70's i was a girl guide there - played for the city brass band -&orchestra.All of my relatives in the NE are long gone
I love my city and the nostalgia of old videos make me both happy and sad at the same time. Unfortunately Newcastle has now been lost to foreign invaders. Much like most of the UK. 😢
nothing is lost, only remembered thanks to your efforts - i hope this endures on UA-cam longer than both of us. From one Geordie to another, thank you V much for this....X
